The 55S was the smaller slender version and it's just as unique and beautiful as the 1st gen 55. Possibly the most sought after mic in the world. Leave it to an expert to do this. You'll see that the original Shure A83B adapter is mounted to the bottom of the mic.

2000 era Shure 55SH Series 2 dynamic cardioid microphone w stand display repair

If you are unsure of your 55SH simply unscrew the 4 small screws that hold the front grill onto the mic and take a look inside. It only takes 20 seconds to do. When Shure Brothers sold the 55SH it was slightly improved from the previous 55S & 55SW model which still incorporated the old 3 pin screw on type cable which had outlived it's use and wasn't very practical.
