55S

Shure Brothers changed the design of the 55S in 1961. Previously it had blue silk screens and a royal blue Shure badge but they gave it the black silk screen to change the look of the mic in 1960 and around 1964 they converted to black foam.

The 55S series mic was introduced in 1951 and was the smaller version of the 55 "Fatboy" sold during the 1940's. The 55S was sold until the late 1970's until it evolved into the 55SH and was then discontinued.

The 55S was the smaller slender version and it's just as unique and beautiful as the 1st gen 55. Possibly the most sought after mic in the world. Leave it to an expert to do this. You'll see that the original Shure A83B adapter is mounted to the bottom of the mic.
