MOTU Midi Timepiece AV USB version 2.01 EPROM Firmware Upgrade Chip / MTP AV USB Brief synopsis: This is firmware version 2.01 for the MOTU Midi Timepiece USB aka MTP/AV USB unit. Included will be 1 new ROM chip to complete the upgrade. This update is said to help improve compatibility with Intel based MAC and PC workstations. Before purchasing, Please check inside your MTP/AV USB: Windows based users MUST have AV USB ROM version 1.32 installed in order for Windows to successfully detect your Timepiece unit. Intel MAC based workstations seem to be unaffected by the AV USB ROM firmware version number. I’ve upgraded several MTP AV USB units with earlier AV USB ROM versions as low as 1.11 without experiencing any issues with MacOS. MOTU MIDI Express XT USB OS v2.5.0 EPROM Firmware Upgrade KIT Update version 2.5.0 is the last update that MOTU issued for the MEXT USB interface. Included will be 1 brand new ATMEL EPROM upgrade chip to complete the upgrade. Keep in mind that the XT itself is not for sale, only the EPROM upgrade is. Please note: This firmware update has only verified compatibility with MIDI Express XT units that have a serial number starting with “MEXT” as well as recent success with older XT-USB units with serial number “MX-XTU”. Please drop me a line before purchase to help ensure compatibility with your unit. MOTU issued the 2.5.0 update in order to resolve stability issues that some users have experienced when using their MEXT USB units on modern Windows and MAC operating systems. Users with 2.0.0 and 2.0.1 should still be able to use their MEXT USB units with newer operating systems. If you find that you have no stability issues, then there may not be a reason to purchase this upgrade. While you’re at it – Have a look and see if your CR2032 battery is fine. Often, the main culprit with stability issues in these units has to do with the CR2032 either being dead and leaked on to the main board.
