The 55S series mic was introduced in 1951 and was the smaller version of the 55 "Fatboy" sold during the 1940's. The 55S was sold until the late 1970's until it evolved into the 55SH and was then discontinued.

You are looking at a classic 2022 model Shure Brothers 55SH dynamic cardioid microphone set at low impedance with a smooth warm tone making this one of the best dynamic cardioid mics of it's time and it still sounds incredible even today. The mic comes with the original mic case in which to store and all original accessories. This newer example is an absolute gem and I would rate it as mint condition. This particular model came with the grey / black foam screens, rectangular silver Shure badge and practical on / off switch. When Shure finally started selling the "Super 55" again in the early 2000's it had a completely different element from the original Shure 55S model with slightly stronger output but the overall design was the same as the 55SH. When Shure Brothers sold the 55SH it was slightly improved from the previous 55S & 55SW model which still incorporated the old 3 pin screw on type cable which had outlived it's use and wasn't very practical. The newer 55SH finally had the modern XLR attachment. The 55SH did away with the impedance switch as well. This legendary 55 series microphone was used by many famous artists and politicians over the years including Elvis Presley and even the young revolutionary Fidel Castro. Those clean lines and deco styling make this mic stand out from all the others produced over the last century. Again, this is the newer version of that early design. It should be noted that this mic has an excellent working dynamic cardioid element with strong output and works perfectly. This one was very well taken care of. Perfect for singing and broadcasting with a100% signal. This mic will not disappoint and you wont find a nicer example. The uni-directional characteristics on these mics are outstanding drowning out most background noise. As seen in the pictures provided the the satin chrome shows no cosmetic wear. The finish has a very nice luster too. There are zero bent or fractured ribs on this mic. The Shure label looks very nice as well. Overall this mic is a very conservative 9 +++ on a scale of 1 - 10. This mic is solid...no loose parts inside or out. The inner element is well secured. This one is good to go. Nice and snug. The threads for the stand are excellent and the joint mechanism holds strong. This 55SH will screw onto any desk or floor stand you wish to use. The mic takes a standard XLR cable though none is provided. The XLR pins on this mic were cleaned however ensuring a perfect signal once a cable is attached. The original mic case is also part of this package deal. It shows just lite wear but still has the original inner foam pad. The original mic pouch is also included as well as the data sheet and other paperwork. This mic is ready to go for any situation and will make a very nice gift for yourself or anybody you know. If you had a guitar amplifier or a HAM radio set up then the PE55 was an excellent choice. The stand is an all aluminum design that is quite aggressive looking and has a very modern mid century vibe.
This microphone clip / shock mount makes for a lite weight, sturdy platform that is very rugged and will hold several Shure model stick mics such as the Shure SM57, SM58, 545, 585SA, etc. Great for using in front of drums or even for vocals when you are grabbing or knocking against the stand.
