WARM AUDIO's WA73 series has carefully rebuilt its classic British preamplifier with a variety of single / dual / EQ versions, paying respect to the original circuit design. The WA73-EQ is designed with respect to the history of British consoles in both design and performance. The unique tone and sweet sound character of the vintage unit are unique and familiar. After several years of R & D, careful reverse engineering and countless auditions, this WA-273EQ was born with the belief of WARM AUDIO that we wanted to release an exact replica. The original 1073 was known as a tool that could handle a variety of microphones, such as condenser / dynamic / ribbon microphones. This unit can also be used with all types of microphones and sources. With 80dB of gain, a fully discrete Carnhill transbalance signal path, and a versatile 3-band inductor EQ, there is no recording / mixing / engineering work that the WA-273EQ can handle. -Manual connectionLike the original 1073, the WA-273EQ is hand-wired and hand-assembled. It has been argued that the classic tone of the 1073 is due to the manual connection of the craftsman. -Custom Carnhill transformer made in the UKOne of the most exciting topics for 1073 enthusiasts is its classic circuit design. Over the years, 1073 vintage individuals have used various versions of transformers. Among them, we most wanted WARM AUDIO, an early version made by Marineair Radar. Marinair Radar transformers are considered the most ideal choice for the 1073 due to its smooth and natural nature. The sound that saturates sweetly when the sound is pushed is enough to impress the engineer. WARM AUDIO worked closely with Carnhill Transformers in Cambridgeshire, UK, to create a faithful replica of the earliest ideal version of the transformer. I have never heard of a 1073 style preamplifier that is currently in circulation, which is similar to the sound of this early transformer. -Capacitors and signal pathsAlthough not often discussed, an important part of the classic British circuit is the different styles of capacitors and output transistors. The use of tantalum and polystyrene capacitors for the signal path and smoother output transistors at higher gain settings than those found in current 1073 style preamplifiers have been combined with the original 1073.
