Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome. If you are a big fan of the Electro Voice 664 and you are looking for something with the same overall look then you might want to give this Knight 4550 mic with short cable and mic case in which to store the contents. Pic # 2 is the only advertisement I have ever found on this Knight 4550 which is pretty non-detailed but still an interesting definition of the 4550 model. It should be noted right away that this 4550 mic is in excellent working condition and is is a dual impedance mic depending on how the cable is wired. Like the E.V 664 you could set it at High Z or Low Z. This mic has a cable set at low Z and has a bit of bass to it though it's not bass heavy. It's very mid range in nature and tone. It a bit of a rockabilly vibe to it if that's what you like in your vocals. The 4550 may look just like the E.V 664 in many ways bur I can assure you that the dynamic cardioid elements on both mics are not the same. They both have very unique designs internally. This mic would have been ideal for both singing and broadcasting in a low Z setting. The Knight 4550 Cardioid Dynamic microphone came with a beautiful, quality polished chrome body. This microphone is just slightly bigger than your classic Electro Voice 664 but has softer, more elegant lines. This microphone was manufactured in Chicago, Ill by Allied Radio Corp. I'm not sure what ever happened to this company but this 4550 was their shining star and this 4550 has a great uni-directional pattern cancelling out most noise from the side and rear. Again, perfect working. As you can see in the pictures provided the body on this mic is damn near perfect with with zero dents, scratches, or pitting. The chrome absolutely glows as does the metal mesh screen and the ON / OFF switch slides smooth as it should. No issues. This mic is real tight...nothing loose. Please let the detailed pics be your guide. The threads for the stand and cable are perfect with no wear or cracks. This mic is very top heavy so you'll want to used a desk or floor stand with a wider, heavier base so it won't tip easily. This mic would be ideal for the collector of vintage microphones due to it's rarity and amazing overall physical condition. I would rate this mic a very conservative 9 physically speaking on a scale of 1 - 10. There is a short 8 foot 4 pin screw on cable included to operate this mic. The cable is soft, pliable and free of damage. It has a quality Switchcraft male XLR end connector. Simply add any longer XLR cable of choice as an extension if needed. It's fits nicely in the case as well. The mic comes with the vintage case in which to store your items. The brown vinyl case has a practical carrying handle and 2 locking mechanisms. It has two new foam inner pads to keep the mic safe and snug. It's a lite weight design and compliments the mic nicely. The case shows just lite wear but it's a great accessory to have especially for transportation and resale purposes. A very cool package deal all around. MICROPHONE STAND SHOWN IS NOT PART OF THIS SALE...USED FOR DISPLAY PURPOSES ONLY. As with all my items... I can promise you will be happy with it for the price paid. If not...I have a no hassle return policy. The shipping will be on you as I believe that's fair but the original purchase price would be refunded. Simply return in the same nice condition...period. Check my rating. INTERNATIONAL BUYERS ARE WELCOME as well. I have had problems recently collecting on payment for items sold so PLEASE do not purchase this item unless you are capable of paying within 24 hours. Domestic buyer will get priority shipping. If you have any questions feel free to ask and...thanks for looking.

I have heard working examples of these 4550 model mics however and they sound incredible. They were dual Z mics as well allowing for both Hi Z and Low Z depending on how the mics were wired. This microphone was manufactured in Chicago, Ill by Allied Radio Corp.
