Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome. You are looking at a very unique General Electric 97U29 model controlled magnetic microphone based on the more common Shure Brothers 510C model "Hercules". This 97U29 comes with an original short cable and period Atlas DS-5 model desk stand in which to display. Pic # 2 is from an old Shure catalog showing this very model mic and it's basic characteristics. It should be noted right away that this microphone has been cleaned and tested. The microphone does not work as the original element was missing when I got it. This mic should be used only for display, prop or modification purposes. This General Electric 97U29 model came with it's own distinct blue grey / paint scheme and General Electric badge and insignia. Otherwise the all metal body was identical to the Shure model sold. The painted body on this mic shows typical lite wear. Very tiny paint chips and scratches. Otherwise quite nice overall. This little mic has a bit of weight to it being an all metal construction. The original burgundy colored cloth screen has zero rips or odors but is slightly faded. It's appx 4 inches tall (with the lower adapter attached) X 2 1/2 inches wide. The G.E badge and logo are still present and show just very lite wear. Please let the detailed pics be your guide. This mic was designed to sit on it's own or to be mounted to a taller desk or floor stand. This example does have the adapter attached to the bottom of the mic so it will fit any stand you have though the stand shown is included. The mic has a short cable that's just 6 inches in length. It's still soft and pliable. Comes with the vintage female Cannon XLR end connector that shows very lite wear and is properly wired if you ever put a working element inside the mic. The 97U29 is an easy 7 + on a scale of 1 - 10. This will make a great display piece for any mic collection. Again, the stand is a 1950's era Atlas DS-5 model with the polished chrome 6 inch riser and painted cast iron base. The DS-5 makes for a very stable platform and compliments the mic nicely as they are period to each other and the stand is about cosmetically the same as the mic. The weight of the base makes this mic hard to tip over as well. This stand has just lite wear in the form of lite scratches and small paint chips on some of the surface. The 6 inch riser has zero wear. The base has the 3 original rubber pads as well to keep the base from scratching any surface it may rest on. The mic with stand is appx 11 inches tall X 6 inches wide. And as always... I can promise you will be happy with it for the price paid. If not...I have a no hassle return policy. The shipping will be on you as I believe that's fair but the purchase price would be refunded. Simply return in the same nice condition...period. Check my rating. International buyers are welcome as well. Buyer must pay within 24 hours or an unpaid case will be opened and item relisted. Domestic buyer will get priority shipping. If you have any questions feel free to ask and...thanks for looking.

This mic was originally sold for dispatch basic communication purposes. Excellent HAM radio operators but it should be noted that the mic has been tested and no longer works. Pic # 2 is from an old Shure catalog showing this very model mic and it's basic characteristics.

Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome. You are looking at a very unique 1950's era General Electric 97U29 model controlled magnetic microphone based on the more common Shure Brothers 510C model "Hercules". This 97U29 comes with an original Shure S-36 model desk stand. This mic was originally sold for dispatch basic communication purposes. Excellent HAM radio operators but it should be noted that the Controlled Magnetic element has been tested and no longer works. This should be used for display or prop purposes only. Pic # 2 is from an old Shure catalog showing this very model mic and it's basic characteristics. The General Electric 97U29 was a very popular model for hospitals, schools, police stations, etc... It had a very sleek and modern look for it's time being rugged and reliable as well. This example does show a bit of wear but not too shabby either. This General Electric 97U29 model came in it's own distinct blue grey / paint scheme and General Electric badge and insignia. Otherwise the all metal body was identical to the Shure model sold. The painted body on this mic shows lite wear and one of the nicer I have seen though the matching stand does show a bit more wear. This little mic has a bit of weight to it being an all metal construction. The original dark red colored cloth screen has zero rips or odors and no discoloration. It's appx 4 inches tall X 2 1/2 inches wide. With the stand it's appx 10 inches tall X 5 inches wide X 7 inches deep. The GE badge and logo are still present and look great. Please let the detailed pics be your guide. The S-36 desk stand has the 5 inch steel riser which the mic seats on and allows for the cable to run down through. The stand has typical wear but free of any dents and still has the original push to talk mechanism on the front of the stand. The rubber pads were replaced with felt pads. The S-36 makes a very stable platform for the mic making it very hard to tip over. The 97U29 is an easy 7 on a scale of 1 - 10. This is going to be a very fun mic to display in the home, studio or office.
