Its sturdy metal body houses two of Focusrite's ultra-clean microphone preamps and connections for guitars, synths, and other instruments. Digitally controlled level settings and smart auto modes make it easy to dial in your sound. Let the machine do the work for you Unlike previous generations of Scarlett interfaces which used analog input level control knobs, the fourth-gen 2i2 features digital controls with Focusrite's cool-looking, multi-color "halo" level meters. That digital control allowed Focusrite to add a convenient Auto Gain mode — just sing or play for a few seconds, and the interface sets your input level automatically. Clip Safe mode automatically reduces your level if your input gets close to overloading the channel. That means fewer takes lost because of unwanted distortion.
