This kit includes replacements for all polarized capacitors on the power supply of the Oberheim OB-Xa. Additionally, this kit contains upgraded replacement bridge rectifiers. The original electrolytic capacitors have long since dried out and stopped performing as they should. This kit contains high quality electrolytic capacitors to replace these failed or failing capacitors and provide decades of stable operation. We provide quality, name brand, long life capacitors (brands may vary from those pictured, since sadly Nichicon no longer makes axial capacitors). Axial capacitors are provided to replace axial capacitors, radial capacitors to replace radials. Voltage values were increased above the original where they will physically fit to ensure rock solid operation and long life. The original bridge rectifiers of the OB-Xa were underrated, and run extremely hot, often above their rated temperature. They are a common failure point on Oberheim synths. This kit includes replacements for the original bridge rectifiers that are rated at 6 times the current capacity of the original bridge rectifiers. Voice boards that have not been serviced can result in autotune failing, and the voices not sounding right and inconsistent from voice to voice even when autotune succeeds.The original electrolytic capacitors have long since dried out and stopped performing as they should. This kit contains high quality electrolytic capacitors to replace these failed or failing capacitors and provide decades of stable operation. We provide quality, name brand, long life capacitors. Gold audio grade capacitors are provided for the signal path. Also, metal film resistors are provided to replace several key resistors that will improve oscillator stability.Other component values can change over time as well, so a full calibration of the voice cards is required in connection with installing this kit. One of the challenges in calibrating and tuning the OB-8 is the cheap single turn trimmer pot used for the volts per octave setting of the oscillators which makes it very difficult to get the oscillators in tune. This kit includes replacement multiturn trimmers for the volts per octave of Oscillator 1 and Oscillator 2 of each voice.This kit contains parts to service both voice boards. This kit requires intermediate level soldering skill and the voice cards require calibration after installation.
