What it is: This is a vintage audio isolation transformer, sold by Lafayette Radio Electronics (a major electronics retailer from the 1950s–1970s). Model 99-0125 was designed to isolate audio signals between two pieces of equipment. What it does: • Eliminates ground loop hum (that low 60 Hz buzz) • Prevents electrical noise between components • Provides electrical isolation while allowing the audio signal to pass • Protects equipment from small voltage differences between devices Typical uses (period-correct): • Connecting turntables, tape decks, or tuners to amplifiers • Linking home stereo to TV or PA system • Reducing hum in recording setups • Audio hobbyist or ham-radio applications
