unit powers on, plays, fwd, rewinds and stops, this does not mean the unit is working as it should, it was tested on a standard Hi-8 tape with no audio information on the tape, so I do not know if it can actually read audio, unit may or may not need servicing, as far as I am concerned you should definitely service it, selling as is for parts/repair, comes with the SY-88 sync card installed, and a power cable.
