With the passing of time, these Universal mics are becoming more scarce, quickly being snapped up by collectors. We're offering this rare working 1930's UNIVERSAL "VELOCITY" RIBBON MICROPHONE with desk stand. The Universal Company Ltd based in Inglewood California manufactured recording devices and microphones in the 1930's. This one is in quite nice physical condition, cleaned, no broken or cracked ribs. A new ribbon and low-z transformer have been installed delivering clean strong output with the warm fidelity audio that outperforms the original specs. (Check out the audio sample on the listing video.) The casing overall shows beautifully with nice black enamel finish, very minor wear...the frontal maker's badge is clear and readable. The original chromed grill and yoke are intact (which is a rarity because usually one or the other has been replaced due to a breakage.) The mic head is hard-wired to a 5' cable ending with a 3 pin male XLR plug. The mic is mounted to a heavy adjustable-height Atlas desk stand which is included. This mic is a real showpiece and ready to plug n' play...with stand it measures 15-19" tall, with chromed riser tube and heavy 6" iron base. **Always safe packing and fast fair shipping. NOTE: If you don't need the stand , we can trade that for "free shipping. ** Always safe secure packaging and fast fair shipping. We offer combined shipping on multiple purchases. **** WE BUY YOUR OLD MICROPHONES...INVENTORY UPDATED REGULARLY **** Click on my eBay username for details. (Text or call.) With a life-long career in major market broadcast radio in the imaging/audio production field, I continue to buy, sell, collect and restore vintage microphones, primarily from the 1930's through the 1970's.
