Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome. You are looking at a very unique and rare late 1950's to 60's era Calectro Q4-154 model dynamic microphone complete with the original cast iron "boomerang" stand to use as a stable platform. I should state that I know absolutely nothing about these older Calectro mics. I can tell you that the Q4-154 is built like a tank and has some good weight to it. I have seen this very same mic in the Midland model but not in any other Japanese brand. They are pretty hard to come by. It's an all metal design with stock painted black finish. I can also tell you that it came with a dynamic element set at high Z and would make for a great general broadcasting mic but this mic has been tested and the element no longer works so it should be used as a prop, display or repair piece only unless you plane on replacing the element. It would be good for use with a HAM radio set up or other basic communications as it was designed if you did. This Q4-154 had an omni-directional pattern that is void of bass and has a distinct sound very much in step with any older dynamic mic set at Hi Z. The overall look of the mic is very much like the 3rd gen Electro Voice 664A microphone with it's elongated tube giving the user a bit of reach to work with. This mic is very top heavy which is why the cast iron stand will work perfectly with this mic. The gold on black paint scheme is very bold and attractive as well. As you can see the finish on this older Japanese microphone is pretty decent with typical lite wear in the form of small scratches and a couple tiny chips in the paint. Zero dents, pitting or engravings and the front grill looks nice. The on / off switch works just as it should and the joint mechanism works perfectly as well. The threads for both the cable and stand are excellent. The mic will screw on to any American desk or floor stand as it has the American style chrome adapter on the bottom of the pistol grip. This mic also takes the smaller Japanese Amphenol style cable though none is included. It's smaller than the 5/8 American cable. I don't know the Japanese size. This will make a nice display piece among your other fine vintage microphones. This mic is cosmetically easily an 8 on a scale of 1 - 10. If you are a collector of older Japanese mics and want something that few others have then this Calectro mic just might do the trick. THE MICROPHONE STAND SHOWN IS PART OF THIS SALE... The stand is an older Japanese model "boomerang" type based on the common Atlas DS-14 model microphone desk stand with the cast iron design. This stand made sometime in the 1960's and works very well with the mic. As seen in the pictures provided the painted finish looks very nice with zero chips in the paint. The 3 inch chrome riser has just a few small scratches. This desk stand has a wide stable platform that makes it ideal for those longer, heavier screw on mics of the day like the E.V 664, 644, 676, 647 and a whole other variety of Shure, Turner and Japanese microphones. The dimensions of this stand are appx 5 1/2 inches wide X 6 1/2 inches deep X 4 inches tall. With the mic on top it's appx 16 inches when fully raised upwards...otherwise much lower. The stand comes with 3 new felt pads. As with all my vintage microphones... I can promise you will be happy with it for the price paid. If not...I have a no hassle return policy. The shipping will be on you as I believe that's fair but the purchase price would be refunded. Simply return in the same nice condition...period. Check my rating. INTERNATIONAL BUYERS are welcome as well. Buyer must pay within 24 hours or an unpaid case will be opened and the item will be relisted. Domestic and foreign buyer will get priority shipping. If you have any questions feel free to ask and...thanks for looking.
