Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome. You are looking at a somewhat rarer microphone made by Aiwa back in the mid 1950's or early 60's that comes with an original desk stand that compliments the mic nicely, cable in which to operate and original DM-8 box. This unique style of mic was made and sold by a couple Japanese companies at that time as many of the Japanese companies often shared the same design and simply rebadged their microphones. This is an earlier Aiwa model mic from when the company first got started. It should be noted right away that this is a prop, display or repair mic only. It has been tested and the element is no longer working. A replacement element would have this working great again if you have an element to use or are up for the task. This DM-8 is set at high impedance and has a "rockabilly" tone in nature and would be great for certain situations. It's a "general purpose" mic but would be ideal for basic communications such as a HAM radio set up or for vocals where a more blues sound is needed but again, a new element is needed. The microphone itself resembles the classic American E.V 636 in size and shape though the E.V 636 was superior in sound. The DM-8 is arguably more elegant however and it's an all metal design being quite rugged with a nice black painted finish and chrome accented finish. The mic is appx 7 inches long X 1 1/4 inches wide at the tip. The mic is an omni-directional type picking up a bit more back ground noise. Good for recording with a guitar or other instrument. As you can see in the pictures provided the physical appearance is quite nice having small spots of wear. Just a couple very lite scuff marks and tiny scratches and paint chips that are hard to see even up close. The on / off switch works just as it should and the joint mechanism works perfectly as well. The Aiwa badge looks real nice too. The chrome bezel and joint mechanism look fantastic. The blue silk front screen is free of any rips, discoloration or odors. This mic is easily an 8 on a scale of 1 - 10 cosmetically speaking. The mic is lite weight and can be removed form it's joint mechanism via screw if you'd rather hold the mic in your hand and move around. The mic comes with it's original 9 foot cable that has a unique 2 pin type connection that was only used by the Japanese companies. The cable is soft, pliable and 9 feet in length. No physical damage. Works perfectly and it has the standard male 1/4 inch end connector for use with most audio equipment. MICROPHONE STAND SHOWN IS PART OF THIS SALE... The stand is actually an original Aiwa model that is based on the more expensive and heavier RCA model of that era. This Aiwa model is much lighter but an all metal design that's quite rugged and makes for a very stable platform. The stand is very good overall with typical lite physical wear in the form of small paint chips here and there. The chrome center accent piece looks pretty nice too. It has a stock brown painted base and a nice 4 inch chrome riser. The stand itself is appx 3 1/2 inches tall X 3 1/2 inches wide X 5 inches deep. With the mic on top it raises up to 12 inches in height when fully raised upright. This will make a very nice display / conversation piece. A great piece of Japanese mid-century design that will look great anywhere it sits. As with all my vintage microphones... I can promise you will be happy with it for the price paid. If not...I have a no hassle return policy. The shipping will be on you as I believe that's fair but the purchase price would be refunded. Simply return in the same nice condition...period. Check my rating. INTERNATIONAL BUYERS are welcome as well. Buyer must pay within 24 hours or an unpaid case will be opened and the item will be re-listed. Domestic and foreign buyer will get priority shipping. If you have any questions feel free to ask and...thanks for looking.

Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome. You are looking at a very nice and somewhat obscure microphone made by Calrad back in the 1950's or 60's that comes with a newer 90's era cast iron desk stand that compliments the mic nicely. The Calrad DM-17 model microphone was very similar to the popular Electro Voice 664 model mic both in size and design and was Calrad's attempt to emulate that particular model. This had an all metal body with beautiful satin chrome finish. This Japanese microphone has a dynamic element which no longer works so this should be used only for display, prop or repair purposes. This mics element mic died years ago but it's still inside the housing and could always be replaced with something working but that will be the buyers choice to make. As you can see in the pictures provided the satin chrome body has very lite wear. Just lite scuff marks and tiny pitting that is hard to see from a couple feet away. The on / off switch works just as it should and the joint mechanism works perfectly as well. The threads for both the cable and stand are excellent. The Calrad badge looks real nice too. The front grill is free of any tarnish or dents which is always a bonus. This mic will screw onto any desk or floor stand you choose to use though a desk stand is already provided. You'll notice that there is no cable included so you'll have to buy one to operate the mic if you ever plan on fixing this. I can probably find an extra 2 pin connector laying around here that I can throw in for free as well but you'd still have to build a functioning cable with it. This mic is easily an 7 + on a scale of 1 - 10 cosmetically speaking. It will make a very fine display piece. MICROPHONE STAND SHOWN IS PART OF THIS SALE... The stand is actually a newer Chinese model. It's an all metal cast iron design with flat black paint that looks like the famous Atlas DS-5 model and compliments the mic nicely. The stand has almost zero physical wear. The stand itself is appx 4 1/2 inches tall X 6 inches wide. There's enough weight in the stand to keep the mic from falling over no matter how low the mic is tilted. All 3 rubber pads are still present and there is zero corrosion on the stand. Total height with mic and stand when mic is raised fully upright is 14 inches tall.

Vintage 1960s Calectro Q4-154 Dynamic microphone w cable Olson Lafayette # 2

Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome. You are looking at a very unique and rare late 1950's to 60's era Calectro Q4-154 model dynamic microphone complete with the original 22 foot cable in which to operate. I should state that I know absolutely nothing about these older Calectro mics. I can tell you that the Q4-154 is built like a tank and has some good weight to it. I have seen this very same mic in the Midland model but not in any other Japanese brand. They are pretty hard to come by. It's an all metal design with stock painted black finish. I can also tell you that it came with a dynamic element set at high Z and would make for a great general broadcasting mic. It would be good for use with a HAM radio set up or other basic communications as it was designed if you did. This Q4-154 has an omni-directional pattern that is void of bass and has a distinct sound very much in step with any older dynamic mic set at Hi Z. The signal strength is strong at output is 100%. The overall look of the mic is very much like the 3rd gen Electro Voice 664A microphone with it's elongated tube giving the user a bit of reach to work with. This mic is very top heavy which is why the cast iron stand will work perfectly with this mic. The gold on black paint scheme is very bold and attractive as well. As you can see the finish on this older Japanese microphone is very nice with very lite wear in the form of small scratches and scuff marks in the paint. Zero dents, pitting or engravings and the front grill looks nice. The on / off switch works just as it should and the joint mechanism works perfectly as well. The threads for both the cable and stand are excellent. The mic will screw on to any American desk or floor stand as it has the American style chrome adapter on the bottom of the pistol grip. This mic also takes the smaller Japanese Amphenol style cable though and one is included. It's soft, pliable and appx 22 feet long. It's smaller than the 5/8 American cable. I don't know the Japanese size but it has a quality Switchcraft male 1/4 inch end connector for use with most audio equipment. This will make a nice display piece among your other fine vintage microphones even if you choose not to use it. This mic is cosmetically easily an 8 + on a scale of 1 - 10. If you are a collector of older Japanese mics and want something that few others have then this Calectro mic just might do the trick. THE MICROPHONE STAND SHOWN IS NOT PART OF THIS SALE... I have several older desk and floor stands for sale if one is needed for you. Buyer must pay within 24 hours or an unpaid case will be opened and the item will be relisted. Domestic and foreign buyer will get priority shipping. If you have any questions feel free to ask and...thanks for looking.

If you are a collector of older Japanese mics and want something that few others have then this Calectro mic just might do the trick. THE MICROPHONE STAND SHOWN IS PART OF THIS SALE... The stand is an older Japanese model "boomerang" type based on the common Atlas DS-14 model microphone desk stand with the cast iron design. This stand made sometime in the 1960's and works very well with the mic. As seen in the pictures provided the painted finish looks very nice with zero chips in the paint. The 3 inch chrome riser has just a few small scratches. This desk stand has a wide stable platform that makes it ideal for those longer, heavier screw on mics of the day like the E.V 664, 644, 676, 647 and a whole other variety of Shure, Turner and Japanese microphones. The dimensions of this stand are appx 5 1/2 inches wide X 6 1/2 inches deep X 4 inches tall. With the mic on top it's appx 16 inches when fully raised upwards...otherwise much lower. The stand comes with 3 new felt pads. Buyer must pay within 24 hours or an unpaid case will be opened and the item will be relisted. Domestic and foreign buyer will get priority shipping.
